Irakli BeraiaIRAKLI BERAIA

On April 5, the Georgian Prime Minster appointed Irakli Beraia as the Chief of the Georgian Intelligence Service.

In 2020-2024 he held the positions of the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee, as well as the Chair of the Trust Group (select oversight group) at the Georgian Parliament. In the same period, he chaired the Georgian Parliamentary Delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

In 2019-2020 Irakli Beraia chaired Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament and the Parliamentary Commission for Restoration of Territorial Integrity and De-occupation.

In 2016-2019 he was the First Deputy Chair of the Defence and Security Committee.

In 2015-2016, while serving as the Director of Information-Analytical Department at the Georgian State Security Service, Beraia also chaired the group of participants from the Georgian Government at the meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) in Ergneti and Gali.

In 2012-2015, he was the Director of the Reforms and Development Department at the Georgian Interior Ministry.

His work experience includes Georgian Red Cross Society, International Federation of the Red Cross, Ministry of Economy and private sector.

Irakli Beraia is a graduate of the Georgian Diplomatic Academy and holds Master’s Degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster, London, UK.
